Our client, the City of Palm Springs, is once again holding Summer Camp 2026. Day Camp Unit Leader and Director positions available. This is a part-time seasonal temporary assignment. All Candidates hired will be employees of Proper Solutions Staffing Agency. 

DAY CAMP UNIT LEADER

This assignment involves providing general assistance in conducting youth recreational program activities for the Youth Day Camp Program. The ability to work with children is extremely important.

Pay $16.90/hr 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in conducting and participating in group recreation activities.

• Assist on field trips and outings.

• Assist in preparing recreation facilities for group activities.

• Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies.

• Assist with the proper use and care of assigned facilities and equipment.

• Knowledge of recreational activities used for youth programs.

• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

• Learn and perform assigned tasks.

• Instruct and lead group recreation activities.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

Previous experience working in a youth activities environment preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Must be 16 years or older and have a valid work permit.

• Must be available to attend training starting from May 26, 2026, through June 1, 2026.

• Must be available to work from June 2, 2026, through July 31, 2026. 

• Possession of or ability to obtain current First Aid and CPR Certification during the training.

• Able to work at various Recreation Center locations including Palm Springs Leisure Center, Demuth Community Center, and the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center.

DAY CAMP UNIT DIRECTOR

This assignment involves organizing and participating in the daily operation of the Summer Day Camp program in accordance with established schedules and standards, exercising independent judgment in solving program activity problems, and supervision of Unit Leaders and Camp Aides. The ability to work with others, including children, is extremely important.

Pay $17.90/hr.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, organize, supervise and participate in scheduled sessions of Youth Day Camp.

• Organize athletics, crafts, social, and instructional activities. Supervise and participate in various games and sporting events.

• Knowledge of principles and practices of organizing and conducting public recreation programs.

• First Aid/CPR practices and techniques. Record keeping and reporting procedures.

• Instructional techniques and methods for recreational programs that serve a variety of interests and abilities.

• Ability to plan, organize, and lead individuals and groups in recreational activities.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

One (1) year previous experience working with children in youth activities or learning environment is preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older and possess a valid California Driver's License.

• Must be available to attend training starting from May 26, 2026, through June 1, 2026.

• Must be available to work from June 2, 2026, through July 31, 2026. 

• Possession of or ability to obtain current First Aid and CPR Certification during the training.

• Able to work at various Recreation Center locations including Palm Springs Leisure Center, Demuth Community Center, and the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center.

Working Conditions:

Work includes indoor and outdoor environments during summer months.

Selected candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation, physical, and drug screen.
