POSITION SUMMARY

This is a part-time seasonal temporary assignment and candidates will be selected and processed
through Proper Solutions Staffing. If selected for consideration, a representative from the staffing
agency will contact the candidate.


Day Camp Unit Leader
This assignment involves providing general assistance in conducting youth recreational program activities for the Youth Day Camp Program. The ability to work with children is extremely important.

Selected candidates will not be employed by the City of Palm Springs and will be referred to Proper Solutions for employment and placement in the Department of Parks and Recreation for the 2023 program.

Pay $15.50/hr

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Day Camp Unit Leader

• Assist in conducting and participating in group recreation activities.
• Assist on field trips and outings.
• Assist in preparing recreation facilities for group activities.
• Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies.
• Assist with the proper use and care of assigned facilities and equipment.
• Knowledge of recreational activities used for youth programs.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Learn and perform assigned tasks.
• Instruct and lead group recreation activities.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Day Camp Unit Leader
Experience:
Previous experience working in a youth activities environment is preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Must be 16 years or older and have a valid work permit. Possession of, or ability to obtain current First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Must be available to work from June 12, 2023 through August 4, 2023.
• Able to work at various Recreation Center locations including Palm Springs Leisure Center, Demuth Community Center, and the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center.

Selected candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation, physical and drug screen.

Working Conditions:
Work includes indoor and outdoor environments during the summer months. Applicants must be able to work the 8-week program from June 12, 2023, through August 4, 2023.
