HR Specialist – Workers’ Comp, Leave & Safety
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable HR Specialist to oversee workers’ compensation claims, leave of absence management, FMLA administration, and safety compliance. This role involves working closely with a third-party administrator for workers’ comp claims, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and maintaining accurate records in HRIS systems. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience with Microsoft Office, and a deep understanding of HR compliance for both new hires and existing employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Workers’ Compensation & Safety Compliance:

Manage and coordinate workers’ compensation claims with a third-party administrator, ensuring timely processing and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Monitor safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Support workplace safety initiatives, accident prevention programs, and employee safety training.

Conduct incident investigations, maintain records, and recommend improvements to reduce workplace injuries.
Leave Management & Compliance:

Administer and track FMLA, disability, and other leave of absence requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.

Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding leave eligibility, benefits, and return-to-work processes.

Maintain up-to-date leave records in HRIS systems and generate reports as needed.
HR Compliance & Onboarding Support:

Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws related to workers’ comp, leave, and safety regulations.

Assist in the onboarding process, ensuring new hires understand company policies on workplace safety and leave benefits.

Maintain employee records, ensuring accurate HRIS system data entry for new hires and existing employees.

Support compliance audits and reporting requirements related to workers’ compensation, leave management, and safety.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).

3+ years of experience in workers’ compensation, leave management, safety compliance, or HR administration.

Strong knowledge of FMLA, workers’ comp laws, ADA, OSHA, and general HR compliance.

Experience using HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Work Environment:

This is an office-based role with potential for occasional travel to company locations for safety training and compliance checks.
This is a temporary role that has the potential to be 6-12 months.
Full-time
Pay = $27-32/hr
