Job Description

Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager for a long-term temporary role with the following skills:

 

  • Perform difficult to complex clerical accounting work involving the processing and maintenance of various agreements, contracts and documents for compliance, accuracy and availability of funds.

  • Prepare multiple documents for processing in the area of vendor payments, customer invoicing, check requests, purchase requisitions, credit cards, cash reconciliation, payroll, and data entry. All documents to meet specified deadlines.

  • Research, compile and participate in the preparation and maintenance of various accounting statistical reports, schedules, and documents.

  • Perform data entry and report distribution with accuracy.

  • Interpret and apply appropriate accounting rules and regulations.

  • Respond to public and employee inquires in a courteous manner, providing information within the area of assignment and resolving customer concerns in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Monitor, compile and analyze revenue, charges, payments and statistical data.

  • Prepare cash reconciliation and reports.

  • Prepare and maintain department related financial records, files, spreadsheets and reports.

  • Monitor compliance of financial requirements contained within department agreements.

  • Perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Assist staff with various accounting functions as needed.

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of clerical accounting work of above average complexity; including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, basic contract agreements, credit cards and payroll.

  • Computer skills in the development and maintenance of spreadsheets with average to advance complexity.

  • Municipal accounting processes and procedures in the area of financial record keeping and reporting; operations, services and activities.

  • Laws, codes and regulations applicable to Federal, State and Local Governmental policies and procedures.

  • Modern office operations; customer service, filing, and use of office equipment.

Ability to:

  • Prepare and maintain detailed spreadsheets for a variety of financial records and reports.  Perform accounting clerical work of above average difficulty.

  • Apply bookkeeping and financial record-keeping principles in the maintenance of financial records, working independently (includes the absence of supervision) while performing tasks of some difficulty.

  • Operate office equipment including but not necessarily inclusive of computers (with extensive spreadsheet applications and word processing), calculators, copiers and phone communications.

  • Follow oral and written instructions.

  • Interpret, explain, and enforce department polices and procedures, communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and written.

  • Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception that is necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.

  • Maintain mental capacity which allows for effective interaction and communication with others and performance of job duties.

  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

 

Experience and Training

Experience:

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting clerical experience.

 

Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.

  • Associates degree is desirable.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, sorting, editing, adding, deleting, etc.)

  • Extensive use of Neogov software.

 

Full-time: Mon – Thurs / 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

Pay = $26 - $30/hr
